MADAME DE POMPADOUR

MADAME DE POMPADOUR

A well-known personage, Lady of Pompadour or Madame de Pompadour (29 December 1721 – 15 April 1764) was more than Louis XV’s companion. She was a patron of the arts, a friend to the king and an influencer. She also had a fascinating friendship with Voltaire, the renowned philosopher, writer and historian. While many favoured her, she had numerous enemies at the court because of her power behind the scenes. Even when she was no longer the king’s companion, she remained his confidant, aide and advisor. You can visit her castle, a close neighbor to Etoile de Pompadour, and submerge in the stories of that past.
